SUN RA
1965 is the beginning of some prime psychedelic years for our man from Saturn, and by the time of this record he's definitely got the cake baked. Songs are getting longer, group solos are getting thicker, etc. Recorded at the then-new Olatunji Center for African Culture. Olatunji had a lot in common with Ra at that point- robes, too many drummers, shows with large props. No doubt their common interest in politics/black activism fanned the flames of mutual admiration too. A great one for bass player Ronnie Boykins. Pat Patrick, John Gilmore, Marshall Allen.
